Bermuda Football Association Celebrates Successful Club Licensing Cycle, Awards Licenses to Three Clubs

March 20, 2025

The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its Club Licensing (CL) cycle, marking a significant step forward in the professionalization and development of local football. On Thursday, March 6, 2025, following a rigorous process, St. George's Cricket Club, Devonshire Colts, and X-Road Warriors were awarded club licenses, recognizing their commitment to meeting the high standards set by FIFA and Concacaf.

Club Licensing is a crucial framework designed to enhance football club operations across key areas including sporting, infrastructure, administration, legal compliance, and financial management. This initiative, introduced by the BFA, aims to elevate the standards of local football and prepare clubs for future opportunities in regional competitions.

The first CL cycle since the COVID-19 pandemic was launched in January 2024, transitioning the process from paper-based submissions to Concacaf’s online Comet CL platform. From March to August 2024, Licensing Coordinators from each club worked closely with the BFA’s Club Licensing Manager to navigate the necessary criteria.

In recognition of their commitment and dedication, each licensed club was presented with a plaque and a financial incentive in March 2025. This reward underscores the BFA’s commitment to supporting clubs that strive for excellence.

The CL process has provided clubs with a structured compliance roadmap, offering incentives for achieving key milestones such as submitting AGM Minutes and financial reports. While the process has been a learning experience for many clubs, it has already contributed to greater organization, accountability, and long-term strategic planning.

The BFA commend all participating clubs for their efforts and look forward to celebrating an even greater number of licensed clubs in the next Club Licensing cycle. We remain committed to supporting our clubs in their journey towards achieving higher standards and fostering a thriving football community.
