Two of Bermuda’s long serving football administrators will be honoured this week with the fifth annual Gregory Grimes and Leonard DeRosa Holder Memorial tournament finals.
The Gregory Grimes division A and B under 13 finals will be held at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence on Thursday with the division B final at 6:30 PM featuring Dandy Town and North Village Whites. The division A final at 8:00 PM will see North Village Reds take on FC Bascome Blue. The Under 15 division honouring the late Leonard DeRosa Holder will be held on Friday at the Devonshire Recreation Club at 2:30 PMNorth Village will take on Somerset Cricket Club.
Dandy Town reached the final after overcoming Warwick Archers 4-0. Amai Harvy and Cais Rogers gave Dandy Town a two goal lead. Quincy Ratteray and Rylan DeSilva added two second half goals to seal Dandy Town’s place in the b division final. North Village Whites secured their place in the final after Southampton Rangers could not field a team in the semi final matchup.
The A division final will feature the only two undefeated teams in the division. Last year's runners up FC Bascome Blue will look to go one step further when the take on North Village Reds in the 8:00 PM final. FC Bascome Blue defeated FC Bascome Gold 5-0 in their semi final. The Blues got a hat-trick from Christian Piney with single goals from Keimi Chamberlain and Jordan King.
North Village staged a late comeback versus Somerset Trojans before winning their semi final match with a thrilling 8-7 penalty shootout. The Reds took an early lead through Mateus Amaral before the west end team scored three unanswered goals through Lailen Davis, Jaedon Proctor and Charles Fox. The Reds rallied late with goals from Norico Furbert and Jason Dixon-Dasilva in the final four minutes of regulation time to earn a 3-3 draw.
Friday will feature the Under 15 Leonard DeRosa Holder Final between North Village Community Club and Somerset Trojans at the Devonshire Recreation Club at 2:30 PM. North Village overcame FC Bascome 3-2 in a penalty shootout after the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. Jeremiah Williams scored early in the second half to give North Village a 1-0 lead before Mosias Mills equalized for Bascome. The Trojans led Warwick Archers 2-0 at the half with goals from Jaden Belboda Raveneau and Michael Tear Deleon. A Zias Smith brace forced the match into a penalty shootout where the Trojans came out 3-2 winners.
In Senior Men's action, Devonshire Recreation Club look to take on the Somerset Trojans in this year's Dudley Eve trophy finals. The match will ticket off at the Devonshire Recreation Club at 5:00 PM. Tickets are $15 for Adults, $10 for Kids/Seniors, Children 5 are free!
