Celebration of Bermuda's Rising Male and Female Football Stars

On Sunday, April 23, 2023, the Bermuda Football Association presents the 2022-2023 Youth Awards. The youth is proudly sponsored by Appleby. After a great season post-COVID, we look to honor some of the rising male and female athletes in Bermuda's football community. We're thrilled to have you join us as we celebrate their achievements and contributions to the sport.

Leading Goal Scorer

The North Village Community Club's Norico Furbert emerged as the leading goal scorer in the U13 Boys category, while the Dandy Stars' Evans Welch took home the title for U13 Girls. In the U15 Boys category, the Southampton Rangers' Jaylen Heaven secured the award for scoring the highest number of goals, and in the U17 Boys category, Enrique Mendes of Somerset Cricket Club came out on top. The title of Leading Goal Scorer in the U17 Girls category was claimed by Jahni Simmons of BFLA. Congratulations to all the winners for their impressive performances during the 2022-2023 season!

Defensive Player of the Year

In the U13 Boys category, Grant Reese of FC Bascome Blue was recognized for his impressive defensive skills. Antoinette Barry of PHC Whites won the Defensive award in the U13 Girls category. The U15 Boys Defensive award was secured by Michari Tear Deleon of Somerset Cricket Club. Jahzi Butterfield of Dandy Town emerged as the winner of the Defensive award in the U17 Boys category, and the U17 Girls Defensive award went to Jayla Peets-Butterfield of Dandy Stars Gold. Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding defensive performances during the 2022-2023 season!

Goalkeeper of the Year

Ethan Adderly of FC Bascome Blue has been crowned the Goalkeeper of the Year in the U13 Boys category, while Samaj Scott of PHC Whites took home the award in the U13 Girls category. In the U15 Boys category, the award went to Jadyon Symonds of PHC. Khy Bean of Somerset Cricket Club was named Goalkeeper of the Year in the U17 Boys category, and the U17 Girls award went to Century Burrows of Dandy Stars Gold. These talented goalkeepers displayed outstanding performances throughout the year, showcasing their impressive skills and abilities in defending the goalposts. Congratulations to all the winners on this well-deserved recognition of the 2022-2023 season!

Referee of the Year

In the male category, Chavi Pacheco Hill and Russon Bailey were named the Most Improved and Referee of the Year respectively in the U7 category, Dash Bailey and Sami Carolo won the awards in the U9 category, while Shuaib Worrell and Michael Medeiros claimed the awards in the U11 category. Tayte Browne was named the Overall Most Improved Referee, while Dunstan DeSa and Jeremiah Grant shared the Referee of the Year award. In the female category, Antoinette Barry and Daley Outerbridge were named the Most Improved and Referee of the Year respectively in the U7 category, Natural Simmons and Kenyandae Lightbourne won the awards in the U9 category, while Ja'Shay Trott and Empress O'loughlin claimed the awards in the U11 category. Emily Henshilwood was named the Overall Referee of the Year, while Taznae Fubler won the Referee Appreciation Award.

It's important to recognize the hard work of referees in football matches. Without them, our matches cannot go on. Referees play a crucial role in ensuring that the game is played fairly and within the rules. They have to make quick and accurate decisions, often under pressure, to ensure the safety of players and the integrity of the game. We thank all referees for their dedication and hard work, and congratulate the winners of the Most Improved and Referee of the Year awards for their outstanding contributions to the sport during the 2022-2023 season.

Coach of the Year

Drewonde Bascome of FC Bascome Blue has been named Coach of the Year in the U13 Boys category, while Corey Dowling of PHC Blacks took home the award in the U13 Girls category. Danvers Seymour Jr of Somerset Cricket Club claimed the Coach of the Year award in the U15 Boys category, and also in the U17 Boys category. Shonte Campbell of Dandy Stars emerged as the winner of the Coach of the Year award in the U17 Girls category. These talented coaches have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and played an instrumental role in guiding their teams to victory. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for your dedication to the sport and your teams during the 2022-2023 season!
