Adams Names Bermuda Team for 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers

Bermuda Under-17 Girls’ National Team head coach Gary Adams has named the 21 players who will represent Bermuda in the Dominican Republic.The tournament’s official draw, which divided the 26 participants into six groups, occurred on July 6. Bermuda was drawn in Group F along with Canada,Guyana, and Dominica.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Aaliyah Haffer, Alessandra Hughes, Taya Rodrigues

DEFENDERS (7):Ayshalay Simons, Christia Lugo Elibox, Janiya Sealey, Jayla Peets-Butterfield, R-Zaneé Evans-Wadron, Saony Trott, Zalaye Showers

MIDFIELDERS (7): Amiya James, Breanna De Silva Medeiros, Camryn Lines, Evans Welch, KarisBrooks-Smith, Keyandae Lightbourne, Ziae Castle

FORWARDS (4): Avanni Patton, Eva Tuzo, Ja’Shay Trott, Robin-Valana Pearman

When asked his thoughts on the team and his expectations of them in the 2023 Concacaf W Under-17 Qualifiers, Adams had this to say, “It’s an honor to lead these young ladies into these Qualifiers.  They have remained positive and shown their dedication and commitment through an intense summer training program. We expect them to give an honest account of their hard work and remain competitive within our group.

The 26 national teams participating in the tournament are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, Canada, CaymanIslands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana,Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis,Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks andCaicos Islands, and US Virgin Islands.

  • August 26 vs Guyana
  • August 28 vs Dominica
  • August 30 vs Canada

After round-robin group stage play, the six groupwinners will advance to the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship, joiningthe top 2 ranked nations, Mexico and the United States, that have been seededdirectly into the Championship’s group stage.
